The Village Playbox

presents a stage reading of

LOVE IN SHADES
Written by Julia Scotti

The Village Playbox of Haddon Heights will present a reading of a new play by stand-up comedian Julia Scotti. Entitled Love in Shades, the play is set in 1969 and centers on the Gagliardi family of Fairview NJ. Son Michael is fighting in Viet Nam and daughter Angelica has recently come out to her family as gay. Alternately funny, touching, and heart-wrenching, this play presents an honest, authentic examination of the dynamics of an Italian-American family in an era of great change and division in the United States. There will be two staged readings of the play, April 14 and 15 at 8:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Haddon Heights. Tickets are $5.00 and can be purchased in advance at www.villageplaybox.org or at the door. Seating is limited.

Audiences are encouraged to remain after the reading to offer constructive feedback and comments to the playwright.

Julia Scotti has appeared in venues all over the country and starred in her own documentary, Julia Scotti: Funny That Way. She can also be seen on Showtime as one of the featured performers in More Funny Women of a Certain Age. She can be heard on her comedy albums, Hello Boys. I’m Back and Primal Cuts. Julia remains a fan favorite of America’s Got Talent audiences where she was a finalist.
